There are many types of shingles you could choose from, all with their ups and downs. We have listed below the styles of shingles we offer through CertainTeed and a small description of each of them to help you research the best type for you.
CertainTeed has several categories of shingles. There are luxury, designer, and traditional.
Luxury shingles, also known as premium shingles, are the highest quality laminated shingles that are available. They offer prime protection for weathering, and provide stunning visuals that present the highest quality, coloration, and dimensionality of the three types. These shingles have realistic representation of old-world wood shake and quarried slate roofing.
Designer shingles, also known as architectural or dimensional shingles, are the most prevalent asphalt shingles installed in North America. They have two or more layers of asphalt that are fused together for a thicker and richer multi-dimensional appearance. Like the luxury shingles, these are also engineered to replicated the aesthetics of wood shake and natural slate roofing. They have improved warranty protection and are often heavier than strip shingles.
Traditional shingles, also known as strip or 3-tab shingles, are designed for long lasting performance and durability. While they may not be as extravagant looking or offer as much protection as the other types, they get the job done.
Some of our shingles are ClimateFlex shingles, which makes them more flexible than a regular shingle and able to withstand colder temperatures. They also have increased ductile properties, granule adhesion, and enhanced crack resistance. However, that is not always the best option. Make sure to talk with the production manager to help decide which is best for you!
